Can You Get High on Hemp Seeds?
The short answer to this is no. You cannot get high on hemp seeds. Even if you ate nothing but hemp seeds, you still wouldn’t get high because hemp seeds contain such a small amount of THC. THC is the ingredient responsible for the “high” you get from smoking marijuana, but hemp seeds only have a trace amount.

While you can’t get high on hemp seeds, they are a great source of protein, fiber, and essential amino and heart healthy fatty acids. Hemp seeds are a flavorful seed similar to pine nuts. Adding hemp seeds to any mean makes it a super food status. Hemp seeds can be put on top of salad, yogurt, cereal, or just on its own.
Hemp seeds have about 3300mg of Omega-3 and 8100mg of omega-6 in 3 tablespoons. As for protein, hemp seeds are 33% protein and contain all the essential amino acids and nearly all the amino acids. Three tablespoons contain 11 grams of protein. Hemp also does not appear to contain phytic acid that may reduce nutrient absorption.
Can You Get High on Hemp Seeds? Preparation
Pour a half a cup of hemp seeds into a dry skillet placed over medium high heat and stir them until they begin to pop. Turn off the heat, stir in a teaspoon of olive oil, and season with salt and pepper, soy sauce, red pepper, or garlic powder. Eat the hemp seeds as a snack, but only make the amount you will eat because cooked seeds do not keep well.

Hemp seeds are also the basis for other nutrition-packed foods. They can be processed into hemp oil and hemp mild. You can buy the seeds, hemp mils, or hemp oil in natural food stores and Whole Foods. Some places even sell hemp seed bars for a healthy snack on the go. You won’t get high from hemp seeds, but you will get healthier!
