Can you die from taking Molly Drug?

Yes. You can die from taking molly drug.

Molly is the street name for 1-3-Triflouromethylphenyl piperazine, aka TFMPP. TFMPP is an industrial chemical that is used to create a chemical synthesis in certain chemical industries. TFMPP came around in 2001 as a legal alternative to MDMA and Ecstasy. TFMPP, nicknamed “Molly”, is often used with benzylpiperazine (BZP) in order to enhance its effects. The enhancement to Molly often makes it more powerful and much more dangerous. Fatalities have been reported as a result of overdose or suicide.

Molly has no known medical use in the United States. Molly is used mainly as a recreational drug for its hallucinogenic effects. Molly drug is usually used with other club drugs such as cocaine or acid and/or alcohol. Molly usually comes in a powdered or capsule form and is taken orally although molly drug can be snorted or shot up meaning intravenously.

What are the effects of molly drug?

Molly definitely creates hallucinations in “her” users. Molly drug also has a long list of effects including:

  • Anti-aggressive effects
  • Respiratory depression
  • Hyperthermia
  • Distorted perception of time
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Sweating
  • Nausea

Is molly drug safe?

Yes and no. Whether or not a drug is safe all depends on the user, the dosage, and whether or not molly drug is taken with other drugs. Molly drug has similar effects to Ecstasy. But when it is taken in large amounts, Molly drug causes hallucinogenic reaction. This can be a danger to people who have taken Ecstasy before and accidentally overdose by trying to get the same effects with Molly drug.

In 2002, Molly drug officially became a schedule 1 status as a controlled substance by the DEA. This means that molly drug has a high potential for abuse and no known medical use.

So can you really die from taking molly drug?

Molly drug has the same effects of Ecstasy to a certain extent but when it is taken in large doses it causes hallucinogenic reactions. The biggest danger with molly drug is the uncertainty. It is hard for a molly drug user to know what substances and in what quantities they are being taken. It is also hard for the ER to know what a person in respiratory arrest has actually taken when they say ecstasy which can be a combination of many different drugs. Molly drug stays in your system for about 2-3 hours and can be detected in urine up to 3-4 days after it has been used. The most common cause of death by molly drug would be accidental overdose. Because of the effects on the senses and perception of time, taking molly drug can make a lot of normal activities much more dangerous. Also molly drug can become very dangerous when combined with other drugs including alcohol. Molly drug also causes dehydration so there is a chance of death due to dehydration from molly drug.

Either way you can die from taking molly drug. If you are going to be using substances recreationally make sure to get the facts and to be safe.
